Any undergraduate student who was currently enrolled in any university or who had graduated within the past year. If the student was an incoming freshman they were eligible to compete as well.
Graduate students were eligible to compete in 2023 if they met the following criteria:
Less than 5 years as a working professional between graduating undergrad and starting a masters program. Internships do not count toward this time.
Only 1 grad student could be present on a team meaning they can either work with a max of 4 undergraduate students or work alone.
Any student could participate. In fact, we recommended collaborating with students who were studying different subjects to get a wide viewpoint of the challenge and share how they would tackle the problem. The prompt was designed to be collaborative and challenge all students regardless of their major.
OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE
No one outside of the project team could examine, correct, edit, work on, or give feedback on the final project. Once the competition had concluded and students received judging scores they were able to share the finished projects.
TEAM MEMBERS
There was a maximum of five people working on a team. While we recommended students work with at least one other person students could work by themselves.
CRITERIA
Each team must create their document in Power Point or a similar application and submit the final version in PDF format. The final project must be a minimum of 12 slides not including the title side and may not go over 15 slides not including the title slide. Your final presentation cannot exceed 10MB.
Do not include any personal information (your name, email address, university, what you are studying etc.) in your final presentation to ensure the integrity and anonymous nature of the project submissions. Teams will remain anonymous until the judging process has been completed.
You may not use any Intellectual Property.
You may create your own videos. Please link videos to an external site in your final presentation. Please make sure your voice is not included in the video. Please also ensure that wherever you upload the video is under an anonymous name to ensure integrity of the project.
